Rebecca Horn

Rebecca Horn often explores ideas of touch and sensory awareness in her work. In her work the idea that touching makes possible an intimacy between our own bodies and those of others is explored.

Rebecca Horn commented on the way her Finger Gloves effected her relationship with her surroundings:

"The finger gloves are light. I can move them without any effort. Feel, touch, grasp anything, but keeping a certain distance from the objects. The lever action of the lengthened fingers intensifies the various sense-data of the hand... I feel me touching, I see me grasping, I control the distance between me and the objects".

Nick Cave's Soundsuits

Nick Cave's Soundsuits

I love the way Nick Cave uses bold and bright colours in his work as well as manipulating scale. However what particularly inspires me is how he focuses on the sound his pieces and how it is effected by movement.

Triadic Ballet

Many of the pieces in this performance remind me of children's play blocks in both their geometric shapes and colour and I like the way they explore the relationship between two different pieces. Unlike Nick Cave the use of sound comes from an external source outside of the costume itself  causing the pieces to be placed outside of its own little universe.

Maria Blaisse

Maria Blaisse's work could be seen as both sculptures and costumes, and thus the line between what is in control the body or the form blurs. Blaisse resides firmly between the disciplines of art, design, textiles and fashion and her work investigates both form and material. Her work has appeared in theatre, fashion and art galleries.
